Embracing Realism in Challenging Times
It's been an intense period for us all, and a dose of positivity is much-needed. Josh Wolfe of Lux Capital (a leading investor in the Silicon Valley with an edge for science), in their Q3 Investor Letters, talks about overcoming the "nadir of pessimism" with REALISM (vs. “utopian techno-optimism”). He believes that the future is shaped by scientists, engineers, and founders, making our world a more desirable place to live.
“a REALIST view of the FUTURE is that scientists, engineers and founders
will shape it into a MORE desirable place we all wish to live in”
The future is already here: Last week DeepMind announced their AI tool GNoME found 2.2 million new crystals, including 380,000 stable materials - this is an acceleration of magnitudes in discovery. Good thing, we also discovered two events next week with speakers from Deepmind!
Our Journey with Science
Our passion drives this newsletter and smrtspace.xyz, increasing visibility and accessibility into the landscape of scientific innovation. From Singapore to San Francisco, we've worked on supporting scientists and engineers in transforming their discoveries into real-world applications and startups. Science isn't just about lab work; it's about facts that forge new realities, challenging us to embrace them in our daily lives. And yes, we love some good facts & truths - especially in todays world.
Your Window to Scientific Breakthroughs
This newsletter and smrtspace.xyz are your gateways to the science shaping our world of tomorrow. Whether it's a snippet of the latest discovery or an in-depth workshop, we're here to make science more visible, accessible, and relatable to you - and maybe you find a new theme or topic that gives you a glimpse into the next big thing, or an unfair advantage or even the inspiration to dig deeper and get involved.
